Legislative representation: MCCA supports effective laws which help, not hinder the community college system. MCCA leadership and lobbyists monitor all legislation to determine its impact on community colleges and community college employees and then provide information to legislators so they can make informed decisions. MCCA works in partnership with the Coordinating Board for Higher Education and the MCCA Presidents/Chancellors Council to increase funding for the community college system. MCCA has become a force in Missouri. Your support makes us stronger and more effective.
Unity for a common good: MCCA networks with community colleges, national organizations and affiliated groups to promote our system. MCCA supports unity through common goals while recognizing and encouraging the diverse interest of our members. Six departments and four councils provide opportunities to participate in specific interest areas and a forum to share concerns with each other and with the entire Association membership. Through these ten departments and councils, Administrative/Professional, Classified Staff, Faculty, Trustee, Retired, Presidents/Chancellors, Chief Instructional Officers, Chief Student Personnel Officers, and Research & Assessment, MCCA members can share ideas. The diversity of our membership and the unity of our purpose make us strong and unique. Every facet of the community college system is represented in MCCA.
Enhance awareness and image of the Association and its members: Increasing public awareness and enhancing the image of our community colleges is a primary goal of our Association. MCCA takes every opportunity to present the Association and its members in the best possible light. In addition to supporting community programs, MCCA highlights community colleges each year by turning the spotlight on the entire system. Community College Month is a statewide celebration of Missouri’s Seventeen Campuses and MCCA members make it happen. MCCA also turns the spotlight on our members and their contributions through ADVOCATE, the Association newspaper. Every two months, the ADVOCATE is distributed to members, legislators, affiliated groups and the press.
Setting the standard: MCCA promotes an active interest in all the employment areas, which maintain the community college system. Our members are active, concerned and vital to their colleges. Taking an active role in MCCA enhances the system, the college and the individual and provides opportunities for professional development. Each year MCCA grows and becomes more important because our members have set the professional standard. They share a broad view of the future and a desire to have an impact on that future. Add your voice to the MCCA message and help set the standard.
