North Central Missouri College in Trenton continues to experience double-digit increases in student enrollment. Preliminary student head count for the spring term indicates an increase of more than 13%, as well as a 9% increase in credit hours, over spring semester 2009. Last fall semester showed a 16.66% increase over falll 2008.
According to NCMC Dean of Student Services Kristen Alley, final numbers are still rolling in. She said, "It looks like North Central Missouri College will have another record enrollment this term with approximately 1,750 students. The NCMC staff has done a tremendous job to get paperwork processed and students enrolled. Our classrooms are at capacity but our faculty remain dedicated to maintaining that personal contact with our students."
NCMC's physical plant coninues to grow and expand, which has a positive effect on enrollment. The new Dr. Albert and Vera Cross Hall (a classroom and health occupations laboratory building) opened this spring, offering large classrooms and amenities and freeing space in existing buildings for other services. Also, development of the Barton extension campus is moving ahead, which will provide new educational opportunities in agriculture and natural resources areas. The Barton campus will be just south of Trenton on U.S. Highway 65, very near the new Wright Memorial Hospital.
